Have you forgotten about an old Gmail account? Here’s a heads-up! Google might delete inactive accounts, including Gmail emails, photos, and documents. They want to keep things secure. Inactive accounts are more likely to be hacked. By deleting them, Google aims to make everyone safer.
When will this happen?
Google started this cleanup in December 2023. The company will delete all the accounts by Dec 1st which have been inactive for the last 2 years.
How to avoid account deletion?
Just use your Gmail account now and then. Signing in, sending an email, or even checking your photos is enough to show Google you’re still using it.
If you want to keep your Gmail account, try logging in soon. You might be able to recover it.
Note: This only applies to personal Gmail accounts, not ones you get through work or school.
